Jailed Musa Khawula Refutes Death Hoax
Contrary to what’s been trending online, controversial blogger Musa Khawula is NOT dead.
Earlier this week, it was reported that Khawula had died in jail, where he is currently serving a 60-day sentence after failing to appear in a Gauteng court in relation to a civil case.
Although Khawula was seen making an appearance at the Vredenburg Magistrates Court on Tuesday, 20 August, the rumours of his apparent death began to circulate on social media shortly thereafter.
However, correctional services spokesperson Singabakho Nxumalo refuted these allegations, saying: “Musa Khawula is alive and well in our correctional facility; he is still serving his 60-day sentence.”
Nxumalo also mentioned that they had “no record” of the infamous gossipmonger “being caught utilising a mobile phone” while under their supervision.
On Thursday, 22 August, Khawula appeared to mock the death hoax – and seemingly demonstrated that he did have access to technology while in jail – by tweeting, “Presume dead,” along with three laughing emojis.
He is scheduled to appear in court again on 2 September in connection with the murder of his ex-boyfriend Wandile Khambule, who was allegedly stabbed to death by Khawula in 2022.
